Low Visibility
2026, neon, glass, acrylic, in collaboration with Daniel Kuppe
Inspired by the neon street signs of 1990s Hong Kong, where I was born, this piece was designed for my wedding after-party at The Sea Ranch Lodge. The Chinese characters read “heavy fog”, a reference to the weather that frequently envelops Northern California, while “low visibility” is intended to playfully allude to the hazy state of the night. Set against the Lodge’s wood-paneled architecture, the sign juxtaposed the electric colors and urban visual language of Hong Kong with the quiet, rugged California coast. I designed the piece in collaboration with neon artist Daniel Kuppe, who fabricated it in glass.
